Hair Training Must Haves
With baseball in full swing with summer games, it’s the perfect time to grab a hat and let your hair go an extra day! With these products and that baseball cap I can push my hair a few extra days trying to train it to go a little longer before washes. Because let’s face it, no matter your lifestyle, who has time to wash, dry, and style their hair ANY more than you have to? For me, especially with a baby on the way, I thought it was the perfect time to do a little hair training because I know I’m about to lose so much “me” time to do my hair every day when sweet baby boy gets here!
I’ve been using these products and following Jasmine Rae’s Hair Care tips to strengthen and improve the health of my hair, and let’s be honest, train it to not get as oily between washes so I don’t have to wash and style it quite as often!
I have tried several dry shampoos over the years- there are so many out there and they advertise different perks to each brand. So many of the dry shampoos leave a white residue, so I tried specific shampoos for brunette hair, but they just leave a brown residue that rubs off on your hands and finger nails when you touch your scalp. So I was in search of a good product that worked well, wasn’t too heavy, didn’t leave a residue, and didn’t break the bank!
I have been using this Pantene dry shampoo for a few years and really like it. It’s not too heavy and is very affordable. It’s a great one to try! Here are my favorite places to find it: You can shop my Amazon storefront for it, or find it at your local grocery store like Wal-Mart or Kroger for under $6.00!
Just like regular shampoo though, I like to switch up my shampoos occasionally or else they seem to create a build up on my hair or just not work as well. So just a few weeks ago, I started looking for a new one to use- and I found TWO that I love!
These two dry shampoos below are how I got my hair to look like this on day 6! Can you believe that! I never dreamt I could wear my hair down and curled out on the town on day 6, but since I’ve found these I have so much more time to spend in my day other than washing and drying my hair!
The first is Garnier Fructis Invisible Dry Shampoo– and guess what- It really is invisible! This is the lightest dry shampoo I have ever used. It doesn’t feel caked in, and doesn’t leave any film or residue, and it smells so good! Any coconut fragrances are my favorite! It is perfect for the first day of your wash cycle when you need a little help too keep your hair looking fresh (about day 3 for me)! It’s only about $7.00 and you can find it conveniently on my Amazon storefront, or local grocery store (I got mine at Kroger).
And here is the second dry shampoo that I have been using the past few weeks. Batiste Waterless Cleansing Foam- I mean look at that cute bottle! This one is the cactus water scent, and it is so fresh and clean, and is the cutest addition to your product cabinet! This one could be used day 3 as well, or is also a great option another day or two down the road. I like it because when you put it in it is just a little wet, so it works well to blow dry it out to give your hair a little body back! Still under $7.00, can you believe that! Find it on my Amazon storefront or local grocery store (got this one at Kroger too)!
I mentioned at the beginning of this post that I have been following some tips for hair training. I really do think it has helped my hair last fresh longer and give me back some more time in my week! (Yay for more crafting time, gardening time, pool time, or sleep… Am I right? Especially with baby boy making his appearance soon!) But even more than that, I feel like my hair is healthier and stronger because I don’t have to blow dry it and style it with hot tools as often. With than being said, if you start hair training, just know that everyone’s hair is different. I have heard of people going 20 or even 30 days between washes!!! But I’ve realized that my hair just isn’t made for that! My max is about 7-10 days, but that is HUGE for me and a real time saver compared to washing every other day (or every day back in high school)! And just remember, if you decide you want to push it an extra day and not look like a grease ball, just throw on a cute hat, or find an excuse to go to a baseball game! 😉
Here are a few pics to show you my Day 11 hair still going strong (only with a baseball cap)
Let me know if you try any of these shampoos, or if you have any you suggest I try!
XOXO
